But what you likely never think of is the people out there that are color blind and the sales your web site may be loosing because of not having a color blind friendly web site. 

Color blindness is a condition in which certain colors can't be distinguished and is most commonly due to an inherited condition. Red and Green color blindness is the most common form. You should use the ALT tag on all navigation images that tell the visitor what it's about and/or what it's for, the text may blend into the background of the image. 

Also if at all possible try to design in White and Black, if you can't do that, it's highly recommended that you design with the 216 common browser safe colors. Don't use Tables and Frames that are not supported by all browsers. Never use only colors to indicate something specific on a web page. 

You might want to find a color blind friend or relative to look at your site or you can use software that helps simulate what a color blind person would see.
